ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Minnesota Nurses Association is celebrating passage of the Keeping Nurses at the Bedside Act as part of the House health omnibus bill.
This is the first time legislation aimed at addressing nurse staffing levels passed both the House and Senate.
MNA president Mary Turner said she’s worked on this for 13 years and called it “quite momentous.” MNA nurses and managers would represent one-third of the members on hospital staffing committees under this law.
Turner said having enough nurses by the bedside will also improve patient care across Minnesota.
