MOORHEAD, MINN. (KFGO) – Day two of the Busted By the Bus crackdown by law officers on distracted drivers in Moorhead cited 15 drivers, bringing the two day total to 29 drivers.
Police, Clay County deputies and the State Patrol worked a four hour block focused on 8th Street. Officers acted as spotters on a school bus provided by the Moorhead School District. Other officers acting as chase cars along the route and stopped drivers who were violating traffic laws.
The campaign is aimed at increasing driver awareness around school buses and enforcement of distracted driving that often leads to drivers violating bus stop arm violations.
Over 300 Minnesota law enforcement agencies are participating in the campaign statewide. First offenses start at $50 with subsequent violations costing $275.
