ST. PAUL, Minn. – Bipartisan legislation approved in the Minnesota House will help thousands of struggling families pay for their rent or housing.
Rep. Michael Howard of Richfield said we need “bold and urgent” action to address the crisis.
“What this bill does is provide $50 million in emergency rental assistance through the Family Homelessness Prevention and Assistance Program so we can prevent homelessness before these families fall into crisis,” Howard said.
Howard said the cost of rent and the number of evictions continue to rise in the state.
Federal pandemic assistance for housing ended last year.
The bill now goes to the Minnesota Senate.
