GARDNER, N.D. (KFGO) – A van traveling on a closed portion of I-29 in rural Cass County rear-ended a State Trooper’s SUV Wednesday afternoon.
The trooper was parked in a southbound lane of the Interstate with the vehicle’s emergency lights flashing. The trooper was directing traffic off the Interstate at mile marker 85 while North Dakota Department of Transportation crews cleared snow from Tuesday night’s blizzard and tow trucks assisted stranded vehicles.
According to the Highway Patrol, two vehicles approached the scene at around 75 mph. The first vehicle slowed down. The second vehicle, the van, veered around the first vehicle and into the back of the SUV, sending both vehicles spinning.
No one was injured in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
