JAMESTOWN, N.D. (KFGO) – A Jamestown teacher and assistant high school volleyball coach has been charged with a felony, eight misdemeanors, and a criminal infraction following a police search of her home.
The Stutsman County State’s Attorney has charged Amy Tarno, 45, with methamphetamine possession with intent to deliver, as well as possession of marijuana, methadone and hydrocodone, LSD, and drug paraphernalia.
According to the complaint, Tarno admitted that she had meth and marijuana in her basement, and that she and her friends would use the drugs, but denied selling any drugs.
She also told a deputy that she kept coffee filters that contained meth-making residue from the farm where she lived with her boyfriend. She claimed her boyfriend manufactured meth 13 years ago. He has since died.
In a statement, Jamestown Public School Superintendent Robert Lech confirmed the district received a report from law enforcement of “alleged inappropriate conduct” by a teacher. Tarno has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.
