FARGO, N.D. (KFGO) –
Fargo firefighters responded to the report of a mobile home fire around 11:30 yesterday morning; dispatch told responding units that everyone was out of the house, except for one dog.
When crews arrived at 6 April Lane North in Fargo, the front half of the mobile home was engulfed, with the fire quickly spreading toward the back of the home. The first arriving crew entered the house and were able to locate the dog, then, attacked the fire.
Crews were pulled out when the floor collapsed. The fire continued to spread, showing through the roof of the home, and it was quickly declared a defensive fire.
Crews continued to fight the fire from outside, until it was knocked down just over an hour later. The home was declared a total loss. No one was injured but one of the two dogs that lived there, did succumb to smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The initial damage estimate is $50,000. The Red Cross is helping one resident who lived there with temporary housing.
Fargo Fire reported icy roads did slow travel, however, the weather did not affect operations on the scene. Crews highlighted the hydrant nearest the fire was quickly found because it was not buried by snow.
