WASHINGTON (KFGO) – The brother of a Fargo man killed in the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland 34 years ago says an arrest in the case brings some comfort to the family.
A Libyan intelligence officer, accused of making the bomb, is in US custody and facing federal charges. 20-year-old Steve Berrell of Fargo was among 35 students from New York’s Syracuse University who died in the crash. His brother, Rob, lives in the Twin Cities.
“It never goes away, it’s there every year, you think about it on anniversary dates that are coming up, birthdays, you know its, it’s been tough our family especially tough on my parents obviously,” Rob Berrell said.
Two years ago, Steve Berrell’s father, Bob, told KFGO News that it was suspected for some time that the man arrested played a role in the bombing. At the time, he said the death of his son was with the family every day.
