ST. PAUL, Minn. – Incoming state Senate Majority Leader Kari Dziedzic is among top Democrats talking about putting abortion-rights guarantees into state law when Democrats control both chambers of the Minnesota Legislature in January.
“I know a lot of my members did have those conversations on the door, and I have an interest in codifying Roe,” Dziedzic said. “So, that will be one of the things that we have discussion on. I think there is some support in our caucus for that, if not broad support.”
Democrats will have only a one-vote majority in the Minnesota Senate, and some analysts question whether every rural Democrat would support abortion rights legislation.
It would likely face strong opposition from Republicans in both the Senate and the House.
