MINNEAPOLIS – State officials remind deer hunters and all other Minnesotans outside this weekend that wildfire danger remains high across most of the state, despite clouds, rain, and even snow in the forecast.
Leanne Langeberg with the Interagency Fire Center in Grand Rapids said expanding drought conditions plus leaves on the ground and grasses drying out has added fuel available to potential wildfires.
“If you’re just out enjoying a fall campfire, remember to keep it small; no more than three feet wide by three feet high,” Langeberg said. “Along with that, make sure that the campfire is completely out cold before you leave.”
Don’t park ATV’s over tall grass, and be careful so tractors and other lawn and garden equipment doesn’t ignite dry vegetation.
