ST. PAUL, Minn. – Minnesota teens and adults hoping to become licensed drivers are having to wait weeks and even months before they can take their on-road test.
Staffing shortages at the Department of Public Safety are to blame for the long waits.
DPS officials say some Minnesotans may have to wait as long as six months for a slot to open up. Some testing sites are booked solid for the next 30 to 90 days, but cancellations do happen, so DPS advises to check its website for updates.
Meanwhile, road test sites in Arden Hills, Plymouth, and Eagan in the Twin Cities are taking appointments on the weekends.
