FARGO (KFGO KVRR) – A former West Fargo teacher, who was sentenced to 18 months in prison earlier this year for luring a minor by computer, has changed his plea to guilty on a charge of having child pornography and will serve no additional prison time.
The charge was reduced from a felony to a misdemeanor. Ron Thompson was convicted in Cass County District Court in the luring case last October and is serving his time at the James River Correctional Center in Jamestown.
West Fargo Police received a tip from a Florida investigator in January 2021 that Thompson was attempting to solicit a minor online. Police later found two pictures of naked children during a search of a computer drive.
Thompson was a teacher at Sheyenne and West Fargo High Schools.
