MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – An Albert Lea man will spend the rest of his life in federal prison on a sextortion and child pornography conviction.
33-year-old Travis Mayer was sentenced to life plus ten years on Friday. Mayer was found guilty of downloading and receiving child porn from a Russia-based website in 2017, and sexually exploiting a 15-year-old girl in 2018 by persuading her into producing child pornography.
Prosecutors say Mayer also tried to obstruct justice by requesting a witness testify falsely in the child sexual exploitation investigation in 2019.
