According to a spokesperson for Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, he is expected to announce that indoor dining at bars and restaurants will remain on “pause” through the holiday season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Walz will formally announce the next steps in the battle against COVID-19 this afternoon.
Some business owners across the state have banded together and formed the ReOpen Minnesota Coalition. They have vowed to open their doors today and tomorrow regardless of Walz’s mandates. Joe’s Diner in East Grand Forks is one of them. The coalition’s goal is to have businesses in every county defy the governor’s executive order. Many are not being identified right now so the attorney general’s office doesn’t have an advance warning. Many of those businesses are struggling to keep open and say extending the executive order will only cause more to go out of business.
The governor is also expected to lay out a strategy for in-person learning for elementary students.
