FARGO (KFGO/KNFL) – Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks Manager Chris Coste is stepping down after seven seasons with the team.
The team says Coste took over as interim manager in 2020 and led the team to a Miles Wolff Cup in 2022. The RedHawks made the playoffs six times with Coste at the helm. He was a member of the coaching staff for two seasons before becoming manager.
The team says it’s immediately beginning a nationwide search to find a new manager.
“This decision did not come easily, but in the end, it was something I knew I needed to do for myself, as well as for the organization.” Coste said. “The RedHawks have been a big part of my life for over 30 years. They provided me with the opportunity to become a professional baseball player back in 1996, to become a coach in 2018 and then the opportunity to become a manager in 2020. I owe the RedHawks and the Thom family more than I could ever repay.”
“While we are saddened to see him go, we fully support Chris in his decision to step down and thank him for his service to the RedHawks as a player, coach and manager,” RedHawks President and CEO Brad Thom said. “Our attention will now turn towards finding the best qualified candidate to lead the RedHawks to future success on the field.”
Under Coste’s leadership, the RedHawks had 15 player contracts transferred to Major League Baseball organizations.
