FARGO (KFGO) – Emergency personnel with the Fargo Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire in a South Fargo neighborhood Friday afternoon following multiple reports from nearby residents who stated they heard a loud explosion prior to seeing flames.
Firefighters were dispatched at 3:20 p.m. to the home located at 2311 59th Ave. S. Neighbors in the immediate area reported being inside their homes when a sudden blast shook the vicinity, followed shortly by heavy smoke and flames emerging from the residential garage.
Despite the accounts from neighbors, Fargo Fire Chief Gary Lorenz stated that responding crews found no immediate physical evidence on scene to indicate that an explosion had taken place.
Witnesses noted that the fire appeared to originate entirely within the garage structure. Firefighters worked quickly to suppress the flames, successfully preventing the fire from extending into the main residential living quarters of the home. Fire officials indicated that crews remained on scene to monitor potential hotspots and complete an initial assessment of the building’s structural integrity.
No injuries were reported among occupants or responding emergency personnel during the incident.
The official cause of the blaze remains under investigation by local fire investigators.
