FRAZEE, Minn. (KFGO) – Three people were rescued after a paddle boat capsized over on Eagle Lake near Frazee Friday night
The Becker County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called around 7:40 p.m, after getting a report of a boat in the water with three people on board.
When deputies arrived they found the paddle boat had flipped over.
The sheriff’s office says the paddle boat began taking on water and became unstable, causing it to flip over. Three people were still in the water while one had made it to shore.
A deputy helped a 70-year-old woman who was wearing a life jacket get to shore. Four people in nearby boats also helped rescue the other two people from the water.
Dustin Strobel, 43, of Staples and Melodie Pope, 46, of Bertha were taken to Essentia-St Mary’s Hospital in Detroit Lakes with non-life threatening injuries. Cindy Steuck, 41, of Bertha, had no apparent injuries and was not transported.
Ruthe Matteson, 70, of Bertha, was airlifted to a Fargo hospital.
Her condition is unknown at this time.
Along with the Becker County Sheriffs Office, Frazee Fire Department, Frazee Rescue, Essentia-St. Mary’s EMS, and Life Link Air Ambulnase assisted.
