(KNFL/KFGO) – It was Game 3 of the West Division Championship Series Thursday evening between the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks and the Kansas City Monarchs from Legends Field in Kansas City, Kansas. It was a very hot evening for baseball, with temperatures reaching 90 degrees. The bats for Kansas City would also be hot to start off the game.
Kyle Crigger would get the start for Fargo-Moorhead on the mound. He would retire the first two batters in the bottom of the first, but would walk Luken Baker, and Grant Richardson. Saul Garza would then make Crigger pay, as he mashed a three-run home run to left-center field.
Facing Kansas City’s starting pitcher Jimmy Endersby, the RedHawks were looking to chisel into the 3-0 Monarch lead. In the top of the third, Jesus Lujano would launch a two-run home run to make it a 3-2 game.
Kansas City would score a run in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI groundout by JD Davis. The Monarchs would add one more on a solo home run by Tyler Gentry off the first pitch in the bottom of the fifth.
JD Davis would tack on another run for Kansas City in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI single.
Sahid Valenzuela would also get an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh, increasing the Kansas City lead to 7-2.
Despite a solo home run by Tucipita Marcano in the top of the eighth, Kansas City would still go on to win Game 3 by a final score of 7-3. The Monarchs now have a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five series.
Jimmy Endersby would be the winning pitcher for Kansas City, going seven full innings, while striking out eight batters, and giving up two earned runs. Kyle Crigger would be the losing pitcher, going 5 2/3 innings, while giving up six earned runs on eight hits, and striking out four. Fargo-Moorhead brought in Justin Lopez, Mason Pelio, and Henson Leal in relief. They combined for
