WALHALLA, N.D. (KFGO) – A Walhalla man is facing three felony and four misdemeanor charges after a police chase in rural Pembina County late Tuesday night.
Court documents say when deputies searched the vehicle driven by Chad Lee, 56, they found more than $14,000, drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine.
Deputies were called to a cemetery outside Walhalla when a person called dispatch to report they were nearly hit by an SUV. A deputy reportedly saw Lee driving the SUV with three passengers inside.
Court documents say Lee was driving recklessly in the cemetery, nearly losing control and drifting around turns. When the deputy tried to pull Lee over, he fled.
Passengers in the SUV reportedly said Lee fled despite them asking him to stop the vehicle. One passenger told deputies Lee and another passenger were throwing meth out of the window during the chase.
Lee could be charged with drug possession, evidence tampering, hindering law enforcement and fleeing law enforcement.
