FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. (KFGO) – There’s an alarming amount of Minnesota farmers doing mediation with lenders to avoid being foreclosed on.
On “News and Views”, Minnesota Farmers Union President Gary Wertish talked about what he’s hearing from producers at the state fair.
“Already into 2026 we have more people that have filed for mediation than we had the last three years combined, so we know there’s a crisis,” Wertish explained. “Then you have the drought. Can we get a farm bill done? The biggest concern is the uncertainty that’s coming from out of Washington, D.C. and how it’s impacting farmers and rural communities.”
Wertish added ranchers are concerned about President Donald Trump allowing tariff-free Argentine beef to be imported.
