District 1 – Baudette area

CO Nick Bruesewitz (Karlstad) spent time preparing for the upcoming bear season and checked baits that were established over the weekend.
CO Tony Hams (Warroad North) spent the week working on a pre-employment background investigation, helped with an ATV safety class, and monitored local ATV traffic. Violations encountered were driving after suspension, driving without taillights, and driving after cancellation-inimical to public safety.
CO Coby Fontes (Warroad South) spent the week in the state forest and on Lake of the Woods. Enforcement action was taken for using an extra line, overlimit of walleyes, and reckless driving.
CO Bobby Stringer (Thief River Falls West) patrolled and focused on bear-baiting activity within the district. Stringer reports that bear baiting is off to a good start. He wants to remind bear hunters and guides about wildlife management area rules pertaining to vehicles and ATVs. Additionally, please review the current bear hunting PDF as some rules and procedures have changed. Enforcement actions for the week included operating a vehicle in a WMA, operation of an unregistered Class II ATV, no helmets for youthful passengers, and a variety of bear-bait violations.
CO Sarah Jahn (Thief River Falls East) gave a law and ethics talk to a firearms safety class in Thief River Falls. Bear-baiting activity was monitored in the area. Time was also spent investigating wolf-depredation cases.
CO Nicholas Prachar (Blackduck #1) spent time working the TIP Wall of Shame at the Beltrami County Fair. Enforcement action was taken for DWI on an ATV.

District 2 – Bemidji area

CO Jamus Veit (Bemidji #1) spent the week patrolling the Cass Lake chain, working the info booth at the Beltrami County Fair, and following up on an ongoing case. Enforcement action was taken for an extra line violation, taking fish without a license, and a life jacket violation.
CO Andrew Goodman (Perham) fielded a variety of wildlife- and electronic licensing-related calls throughout the week. Recreational lake traffic slowed over the weekend, allowing time to focus on aquatic plant and public waters violations.
CO Jake Swedberg (Detroit Lakes) spent the week checking forest areas for bear-baiting activity. Swedberg and K9 Axel also assisted White Earth Police with a search and continued with their training.
CO Curtis Jepson (Osage) worked primarily angling and recreational vehicle enforcement. Numerous questions were fielded about various activities. As bear-baiting season opened, Jepson would like to give a reminder to everyone to read the bear-baiting regulations to stay in compliance. Enforcement action was taken for allowing juvenile ATV passengers to ride without helmets.
CO Angela Warren (Mahnomen) spent time on angling and boating activity. Boats were monitored for AIS compliance. Patrol was conducted for ATV and off-road vehicle activity. Activity in WMAs and waterfowl production areas was monitored. Areas were worked for bear-baiting activity. Information was provided for questions related to bear-baiting rules, nuisance coyotes, and regulations.
CO Bill Landmark (Moorhead) spent the week working on a background investigation and conducting ATV patrol in the station. Calls from the public were mostly related to injured wildlife. Landmark also taught the law and ethics portion of the Red River Riders ATV safety class. Enforcement action was taken for conducting taxidermy without a license and numerous ATV violations, including no safety training and youth under 18 without helmets.
CO Brady Manteufel (Bagley) assisted with staffing booths at the Beltrami County Fair and Game Fair.
CO Ryan Schaefer (Bemidji #2) spent this past week checking local anglers and monitoring AIS compliance. Various wildlife-related complaints were fielded from the public, including an injured hawk. An investigation into a potential calf kill by a wolf was handled. Schaefer also spent time engaging with the public and answering questions at the DNR information booth located at the Beltrami County Fair.
District 3 – Fergus Falls area

CO Tricia Plautz (Henning) assisted local authorities with a house fire, conducting traffic control. She also attended division training and completed equipment maintenance. Work on a background investigation continues.
CO Shane Osborne (Evansville) checked anglers, boats, ATVs, and AIS in Douglas and Otter Tail counties. Training was attended at Camp Ripley and hunting regulation questions were received. Low water levels on area lakes have made fishing difficult.
CO Jake Homan (Alexandria) spent the week patrolling Douglas County for angling and recreational boating activities. Time was spent assisting local law enforcement with calls for service. Enforcement action was taken for a variety of angling and recreational boating violations.
CO Felicia Znajda (Osakis) spent time at Camp Ripley continuing to train COs on the new computer system that will be going live. She focused enforcement efforts on angling and ATV activity this week with various enforcement action taken.
CO Emily Douvier (Morris) reports working fishing and recreational enforcement. She also attended an event at the local county fair and answered questions regarding the work of a CO and the hiring process.
CO Andrew Ladzinski (Glenwood) spent time on angling and boating enforcement. He answered questions on nuisance-animal control. Reports were received of potential wetland violations. Enforcement action was taken for invasive species violations.

District 4 – Walker area

CO Nick Baum (Park Rapids) patrolled the local area for angling, boating, and recreational vehicle traffic. Baum followed up on an ongoing aquatic plant removal case. Baum reports the local ATV trails to be in good condition with occasional rain keeping dust to a minimum. Baum wants to remind bear hunters to verify they register all baits and review the bear hunting regulations prior to setting bait. Baum took enforcement action for various violations.
CO Landyn Saewert (Wadena) spent the week assisting with fires in the northern part of the state.
CO Jack Lien (Walker) patrolled area lakes and took calls regarding bear complaints and public water complaints. Time was also spent assisting local agencies with calls. Lien focused on looking for AIS violations in the area due to the high volume of boats coming through Walker in preparation of a college bass tournament. A seagull was rescued after it was found with a fishing lure stuck in its beak and wing.
CO Levi Brown (Staples) spent time this week ensuring bear baits were properly emplaced and registered. Brown also assisted with increased presence at Leech Lake for a bass fishing tournament over the weekend. Enforcement action was taken for ATV violations.
