(KNFL/KFGO) – The RedHawks and Sioux Falls Canaries played game two of their four game series Saturday evening. The Canaries would strike first with a RBI double by Jabari Henry to make it 1-0 after a half inning.
The RedHawks would load the bases for Dillon Thomas in the bottom of the 1st inning with two outs. Dillon Thomas would single on a ground ball to right field to score Eric Filia to tie the game 1-1. The bases remained loaded for Juan Fernandez who would hit a three run single and the RedHawks took a 4-1 lead after one inning.
Sioux Falls would gain another run in the 2nd inning on a Josh Rehwaldt RBI single to make it 4-2 and the RedHawks would make it 5-2 in the bottom of the 3rd inning on a Tripp Clark fielder’s choice RBI.
RedHawks starting pitcher Tyler Jandron would not return in the 4th inning. He appeared to tweak something in his leg while making the final out in the 3rd. Kahler Key would take over pitching duties in the 4th inning. The Canaries would have runners on the corners in the 4th inning when Josh Rehwaldt took Key’s pitch deep for a three run homerun to tie the game 5-5.
The game remained 5-5 until the bottom of the 5th inning. With two outs and Eric Filia on second base, Dillon Thomas hit a RBI single to make it 6-5. Thomas would steal second base and score an insurance run on a Juan Fernandez single to make it 7-5.
In the top on the 7th, the Canaries would have Mike Hart on first when Michael Curialle hit a two-run homerun off RedHawks pitcher Mason Pelio to tie the game 7-7.
In the top of the 8th, the Canaries would score two more runs on a Josh Rehwaldt RBI double and a run that scored when Michael Curialle hit into a bases loaded double play making it a 9-7 Canaries lead.
Both teams would each score 3 runs in the 9th, but the RedHawks would fall to the Canaries 12-10.
RedHawks pitchers would walk a combined 8 batters and allow 3 runners on via hit by pitch.
