(KNFL/KFGO) – The RedHawks and Sioux Falls Canaries played game 1 of a four game series at Newman Friday night. The Canaries wasted no time putting runs on the board. In the first inning, both Jabari Henry and Michael Curialle hit RBI doubles to make it 2-0 Sioux Falls.
In the bottom of the 4th inning, Tucupita Marcano would walk to start the inning. He would steal second base and be hit in the neck by the throw that ended up going into the outfield allowing Marcano to get to third base. Matt Kroon would hit a RBI groundout to first allowing Marcano to score to make it 2-1.
In the top of the 5th, the Canaries would score another run off another Jabari Henry RBI double to make it 3-2.
The RedHawks would finally get their first hit of the game in the bottom of the 5th inning when Tripp Clark hit a leadoff Double. Aidan Byrne would later double to bring Clark in to make it 3-2.
In the bottom of the 6th Jose Sermo would tie the game 3-3 with his 28th homerun of the season. Putting him one homerun shy of tying the RedHawks season homerun record.
In the bottom of the 8th inning, Jose Sermo would single. He would reach second base when Matt Kroon singled. Sermo would then steal third base and score on a throwing error to third to give the RedHawks a 4-3 lead.
Tyler Jeans would come in and pitch a perfect 9th inning to give the RedHawks a 4-3 win over the Canaries.
