(KNFL/KFGO) – The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks would go on to record 18 hits in a win over the Canaries at Sioux Falls Stadium. Fargo-Moorhead takes the final game of the series to avoid the sweep in a contested West division. The RedHawks gave the start to all-star pitcher Kyle Crigger. Sioux Falls would start right-hander Chase Gearing.
Jose Sermo would put up the first runs of the game in the top of the first inning, hitting his 25th homer of the season to give the RedHawks a 2-0 lead.
The RedHawks would strike again in the second inning, starting with a safety squeeze from shortstop Aidan Byrne. Jesus Lujano would hit a double to drive in another run in the inning, giving Fargo-Moorhead a 4-0 lead.
Sioux Falls got on the board in the bottom of the second thanks to a Joe Vos two-run home run to cut the RedHawks lead in half.
Fargo-Moorhead’s bats would stay hot in a top of the third that would see both Dillon Thomas and Brian Fuentes hit two-run home runs, bringing the score to 8-2.
Josh Rehwaldt brought the game within five runs in the bottom of the third after hitting an RBI double.
In the bottom of the fifth the Canaries would have three batters cross the plate. Jabari Henry hit a two RBI double and Michael Curialle would do the same.
Matt Kroon would hit the RedHawks fourth home run of the game in the top of the sixth. The RedHawks would add another run in the inning coming from a bases loaded balk that would bring Jose Sermo in to score.
The Canaries got one back in the bottom of the sixth from a Josh Rehwaldt sacrifice fly to make the score 10-7.
Fargo-Moorhead loaded the bases again in the top of the eighth inning. Brian Fuentes would draw a bases loaded walk to get the first run of the inning and Michael Snyder would score two more with a bases loaded double.
The final runs of the game would come in the ninth for both teams, the RedHawks scoring on a Dillon Thomas RBI single and the Canaries would get theirs on a TJ Racherbaumer bases loaded walk. Fargo Moorhead closer Tyler Jeans would shut the door on a 14-8 win for the RedHawks.
RedHawks starter Kyle Crigger went 4.1 innings, giving up 6 runs on 9 hits and striking out 2. Fargo-Moorhead’s reliever Jon Beymer would record the win.
Sioux Falls starter Chase Gearing would go 5.2 innings, giving up 10 runs on 12 hits and striking out 4. Gearing would be credited with the loss.
