Detroit Lakes , Minn. (KFGO-KDLM) – Nearly 300 bicyclists from across the country will roll into the Detroit Lakes Area next week as Bicycling Around Minnesota, or BAM, begins its 2026 tour.
Cyclists will ride between 50 and 65 miles each day, taking in the region’s lakes, landscapes, and communities along the way.
This year’s “Heart of the Lakes” tour begins and ends in Detroit Lakes, with overnight stops in Fergus Falls and Perham. Cyclists will ride between 50 and 65 miles each day, exploring scenic lake country and connecting with communities along the way.
The tour begins Wednesday, August 12, with campers staying at the Becker County Fairgrounds in Detroit Lakes before returning on Sunday, August 16.
Founded in 2006, Bicycling Around Minnesota showcases Minnesota’s diverse landscapes through a fully supported bicycle tour, with proceeds benefiting the Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota, a nonprofit that promotes bicycling across the state.
