FARGO (KFGO) – Local business owner and longtime political strategist Jamie Selzler has been appointed to the North Dakota Senate to represent District 44, filling the seat vacated by newly elected Fargo Mayor Josh Boschee.
The District 44 Democratic-NPL Executive Committee announced the appointment Tuesday following Boschee’s resignation a day earlier. Boschee stepped down from the Legislature after winning Fargo’s mayoral election.
Selzler, founder and CEO of My One Change, brings more than 25 years of corporate management experience to the Capitol, having led teams ranging from small businesses to organizations with thousands of employees.
Selzler said his top priorities in Bismarck will include addressing housing affordability, expanding childcare access, fostering job growth, and supporting public employees.
“I know that trust has to be earned, and I intend to earn the trust of the residents of District 44 by being accessible, responsive, and willing to listen,” Selzler said. “I care deeply about issues including housing, childcare, jobs, and supporting public employees.”
Selzler also praised Boschee for his years of legislative service, highlighting his emphasis on building relationships across party lines.
In addition to his private-sector background, Selzler has been active in state and national politics for more than two decades. He previously served as executive director of the North Dakota Democratic-NPL from 2007 to 2008 and has served as the state’s Democratic national committeeman for the past three years.
District 44 Party Chair Jessie Smette pointed to Selzler’s strategic background and bipartisan experience as key factors in his appointment.
“Jamie brings many years of strategic leadership within the party and has extensive experience working with North Dakotans on both sides of the aisle,” Smette said.
Selzler will serve out the remainder of Boschee’s term representing the Fargo district.
