Sisters charged after shot fired during domestic incident

As officers approached a large crowd gathered in the area, multiple gunshots were heard, causing the crowd to quickly scatter.

FARGO (KFGO) — Two sisters are facing felony charges after a shots-fired incident at a Fargo home.

Charges say police responded to a call for a domestic incident involving a gun Sunday morning. While on scene, Ashanti Demarrias tried to walk away before officers knew where the gun was. Police tried to detain her, but her sister, Lashanti Demarrias, pulled an officer away and tried to block them from arresting her sister.

Officers were able to separate and arrest both women. They learned Ashanti and a man had been in an argument over him cheating on her, and Ashanti went into the bathroom and fired one round into the ceiling. She told police she did this to see if the man cared about her.

Ashanti Demarrias is charged with terrorizing and reckless endangerment. Lashanti Demarrias is charged with felony preventing arrest.
