WAHPETON, N.D. (KFGO) – An inmate in the Richland County Jail is facing assault and contact by bodily fluids charges for attacking a correctional officer.
Court documents say Nathaniel Marts, 51, was being given medication when he became angry with jail staff and started yelling profanities. Marts then reportedly spit on an officer and grabbed the officer around the neck.
Court documents say the officer suffered neck pain, had marks on his neck and needed a CT scan. Officers had to use their tasers to get Marts off of the officer.
The charges were filed in Richland County District Court yesterday. The incident happened earlier this month.
