(KNFL/KFGO) – Sitting at 26-26 entering Saturday, the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks not only had a shot to get above .500, but they also had a chance to win their series against the Chicago Dogs. It would turn out to be a phenomenal game for Jose Sermo.
Jairus Richards would get Fargo-Moorhead on the board first with a solo home run in the bottom of the 2nd.
After an RBI single by Brian Fuentes in the bottom of the 3rd, Jairus Richards would drive in two on an RBI double. Matt Kroon would also hit an RBI double to cap off a four-run inning for the RedHawks.
Leading 5-0, Fargo-Moorhead would add to their lead in the bottom of the 4th. Jose Sermo would smash a 3-run home run to dead center field to make it an 8-0 lead. Andy Nelson would drive in a run on an RBI single later in the inning.
In the bottom of the 5th, Jose Sermo would crush his second 3-run home run of the game to give the RedHawks a 12-0 lead.
Chicago would score their first run in the top of the 6th on an RBI groundout by Derek Maiben.
Jose Sermo would go yard once more in the bottom of the 8th, as he launched a solo shot over the right field fence for his third home run of the game to make it a 13-1 RedHawks lead.
Ethan Wilder hit a 3-run home run for Chicago in the 9th, but Fargo-Moorhead would cruise to a 13-4 win.
Jose Sermo went 3 for 4 at the plate, hit three home runs, and drove in seven runs. He currently has 21 home runs on the season. The RedHawks are 27-26 entering the series finale Sunday afternoon, and are tied with the Sioux Falls Canaries for 2nd place in the West Division.
