(KFAN/KFGO) – The RedHawks started a six game road trip Tuesday night in Oconomowoc, WI against the Lake Country DockHounds. It was a game that felt more like a boxing match as each team would issue blows and exchange leads.
The DockHounds would strike first in the 1st inning when Ray Zuberer III hit a two run homerun making it 2-0. The RedHawks would tie the game in the 2nd inning when Jesus Lujano hit a bases loaded single scoring Brian Fuentes scores and Andy Nelson.
The RedHawks would take the lead in the 3rd inning when Tripp Clark hit a solo HR making it 3-2. The DockHounds would counter with 4 runs of their own in the 3rd. Brett Roberts and Ryan Hernandez would have RBI singles and Joshua Mears would crush a two run homer to make it 6-4 DockHounds.
The back and forth would continue in the 4th inning. The RedHawks would get a RBI single from Aidan Byrne, a RBI double from Jesus Lujano, and then a RBI by Juan Fernandez to tie the game at 6-6. The DockHounds would again take the lead in the bottom of the fourth on a Ripken Reyes RBI single followed by a sacrifice fly by Brett Roberts to make it 8-6 DockHounds.
In the bottom the 5th inning, the DockHounds added another run from Jack Blomgren who hit a RBI double making it 9-6. That would be all for Colby Kiser who went 4.1 innings giving up 10 hits and 9 runs (all earned). The RedHawks would bring in rookie pitcher Drew Gertz with one out and runners on second and third. Gertz would get his first professional strikeout getting Drey Dirksen to go down swinging. Gertz would then get Jake Snider to ground out to escape the inning.
In the bottom of the 6th inning the bottom would fall out for the RedHawks. Peter Zimmermann hit a two run single to make it 11-6. The RedHawks would load the bases and walk a batter then hit a batter making it 13-6. Ripken Reyes would follow with a two run double to increase the DockHounds lead to 15-6.
In the 8th inning, Dillon Thomas hit a two run double to make it 15-8, but DockHounds’ Peter Zimmermann would hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the inning to make it 16-8. In the 9th inning, the DockHounds brought in Alan Zhang Carter who recorded three straight outs facing the minimum to end the game.
