(KNFL/KFGO) – The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks were looking for the series sweep against the Kansas City Monarchs before starting a 4-game series with Winnipeg tomorrow. The offense from Kansas City would be scorching hot.
Kansas City would put up three runs in the top of the 1st, before putting up five in the top of the 2nd thanks to a solo home run by Marcus Smith, a three-run home run by Austin Callahan, and an RBI single by Josh Bissonette to make it 8-0 Kansas City. It would stay that way until the top of the 4th, where Josh Bissonette would drive in a run on an RBI single.
The Monarchs would hit back-to-back home runs in the top of the 5th. Grant Richardson would crush a solo home run, and then Austin Callahan would hit his second home run of the game to make it 11-0. The RedHawks would get on the board in the bottom of the 5th on an RBI single by Jesus Lujano, and a 2-run single by Dillon Thomas.
In the bottom of the 7th, the RedHawks put up 4 runs. They got an RBI single by Tripp Clark, and a three-run home run by Dillon Thomas. That made it an 11-7 game.
For Kansas City, an 8-run 8th inning would start with a grand slam by Grant Richardson in the top of the 8th, and end with a 3-run home run by Austin Callahan. The Monarchs would score 6 more runs in the 9th inning, as Grant Richardson would hit his three-run home run, which would be his 2nd home run of the game. Finally, Hudson Head would join the home run barrage, hitting a three-run home run himself, as Kansas City would take the series finale against the RedHawks 25-9.
Kansas City would hit eight home runs in this game. Five different Monarch hitters would hit a home run, with three of them coming from Grant Richardson. Austin Callahan would also have a multi-home run game, hitting two of them. Also, there were three Monarch hitters would had five RBIs or more. Those hitters were Grant Richardson(7), Austin Callahan(5), and Josh Bissonette(5). The Monarchs would also have 26 total hits.
Despite the loss, the RedHawks do win the series, where they put up a total of 37 runs.
