MOORHEAD (KFGO/KVRR) – Lisa Borgen, a former prosecutor, judge, and current member of the Moorhead City Council, is running for mayor.
“Our city is a thriving, safe, diverse community that is on the grow. I support responsible economic development, sustainable growth, fiscal responsibility, and delivering high-quality city services that benefit all Moorhead residents,” according to a statement on Borgen’s campaign website. “I am committed to thoughtful, data-driven decision-making and long-term planning that strengthens Moorhead and enhances the quality of life in our City.”
Borgen is a former Clay County Attorney, first elected in 1998. She is also a former Minnesota District Court Judge and a former vice president at American Crystal Sugar Co.
Borgen grew up in Moorhead and graduated from Moorhead High School. She earned her law degree from the University of North Dakota School of Law.
Kassi Sofferman, a local social worker and founder of the nonprofit Midwest Family Support and Advocacy, is also in the race. Sofferman launched her campaign in December.
