MINNEAPOLIS (KFGO/WCCO) – Two women are in the Hennepin County Jail on murder charges in connection to the death of a United States Army veteran in Minneapolis. The 18 and 19-year-old women were arrested Tuesday by the Minneapolis Police Violent Criminal Apprehension Team.
Amos Ferrier, 38, died Sunday from injuries suffered during an attempted car theft last Friday. Minneapolis Police said Ferrier suffered a head injury when he was either struck by the suspects’ vehicle or jumped onto the hood as the suspects fled.
“The loss suffered by the family and loved ones of Amos Ferrier in this horrific incident cannot be undone,” said Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara. “But the apprehension of those believed to be responsible brings hope that justice will be achieved. I am grateful for the coordinated efforts of investigators and community members that led to these arrests.”
Ferrier was identified on social media by Rick’s Coffee Bar where he served as their internship director.
“[Ferrier] was decorated for bravery due to actions he took while serving as an army medic in Afghanistan and was credited with saving multiple lives.” The post said.
Both women are being held without bail.
