Alexander Goeller (Otter Tail County Jail)
FERGUS FALLS, Minn. (KFGO KBRF) – A Fergus Falls man has been arrested for threatening a woman with a samurai sword and assaulting a police officer.
Alexander Goeller, 24, was arrested Thursday after Fergus Falls police were called on a report of threats of violence at an apartment complex on Friberg Avenue.
Prosecutors say that the property manager was cleaning an apartment unit, when she heard yelling over the sound of her music. She told police that she looked out the window and saw Goeller wielding a samurai sword, yelling profane and threatening comments at her. At one point, he made a gesture towards the victim with the sword, specifically that he put the sword up to his own throat and made a slow cutting motion toward her.
Police reviewed the security footage, which showed Goeller in a white mask wielding the sword recklessly in the parking lot, at one point even dropping it. Police say Goeller can be seen gesturing at the building the victim was in. He then walked across the lot and spit on the victim’s car door.
While on the scene, police say Goeller approached them. When they told him to stop and that they needed to talk, Goeller began to back pedal and attempted to flee. Officers grabbed Goeller, who resisted. After he was taken to the ground, he continued resisting and kneed an officer in the jaw. After multiple uses of pepper spray and five knee strikes, Goeller was secured and taken to the Otter Tail County Detention Facility.
A search warrant was served on his apartment, where officers say they found a white mask and a sword with a 27-inch long blade.
