(KNFL/KFGO) – The Fargo Force came into Saturday night’s game looking to even the Western Conference Finals with the Sioux Falls Stampede, after losing in Game 1, 6-2. It would end up being a defensive slugfest throughout, and Fargo Force goalie, Ajay White, would have a stellar performance.
Kolin Sisson of the Force struck first with a 1st period goal at 11:57, giving the Force a 1-0 lead. The Sioux Falls Stampede would tie it up with a goal by Thomas Zocco. Neither team would score in the 2nd Period. The 1-1 score would remain until JJ Monteiro scored a goal in the 3rd period goal at 17:04. However, after further review, the goal was overturned for goalie interference. The game remained tied at the end of the 3rd pushing Game 2 into overtime. With only 2:56 left in overtime, the University of Minnesota commit, Axel Lofgren, scored the game winner for the Fargo Force and tying the series 1 game a piece.
Fargo netminder, Ajay White, would have a phenomenal evening, stopping 44 of 45 Sioux Falls shots. Linards Feldbergs saved 18 of 20 Fargo shots. After scoring 2 powerplay goals the other night, Sioux Falls went 0/3 on the powerplay in Game 2.
The series now swings to Fargo, as the Force will look to take the series lead on Friday, May 8th, at the Scheels Arena. The Game 2 win for Fargo also guarantees a Game 4 next Saturday. 6:45 PM is the pregame show next Friday for Game 3 on AM 740 The FAN/107.3 FM KNFL, 740thefan.com, and the 740 The FAN mobile app.
