FARGO (KFGO) – A fourth person has entered the race for Fargo City Commission.
Former Cass County Commissioner Chad Peterson announced his campaign Thursday morning.
Peterson is a small business owner who served three terms on the Cass County Commission. Peterson says his goal is to get back to the basics of what city government should do. He says that as Fargo continues to grow, it needs experienced leadership to ensure fiscal responsibility and hold the line on property taxes, support public safety and quality-of-life initiatives, invest in infrastructure and roads, encourage smart economic development that creates jobs and opportunities, and build a more transparent, collaborative government.
During his 12 years on the Cass County Commission representing much of north Fargo, Peterson served multiple terms as chair.
The commission seats of Denise Kolpack and Dave Piepkorn are up in June. Piepkorn and Kolpack are both running for the mayoral seat as mayor Tim Mahoney ends his final term in office.
Former Fargo City Commissioner Tony Gehrig and business owner and artist Anna Johnson have also announced their candidacy for city commission along with Scott Brekke, a member of the Fargo Liquor Control Board.
