HAYTI, S.D. (KFGO KWAT) – A Sisseton man was arrested for Felony DUI and a parole violation after driving his pickup into Lake Poinsett south of Watertown Sunday.
Deputies with the Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office were called to a location near Stone Bridge on the north end of the lake around 1:30 p.m.
They found a pickup with its front end submerged in the water. A deputy detected a strong odor of alcohol and signs that the driver was drunk. A preliminary breath test indicated a blood-alcohol content of .238, which is nearly three times above the legal limit for driving.
The 44 year-old man was booked into jail in Brookings County.
