MEDORA, N.D. (KFGO) – You could be among the first to visit the new Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library.
Tickets are now available for the library’s grand opening on July 4, which is also America’s 250th birthday.
The Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library is located in Medora in the Badlands of western North Dakota, where the 26th president hunted and ranched as a young man in the 1880s.
Capacity is limited. You can reserve tickets here.
Tickets for adults are $26, children ages 3-12 are $16, and children under age 3 are free.
Discounts are available for seniors, active duty and military veterans, college students and groups of 15 people or more.
The Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library Foundation has a $70 million Bank of North Dakota line of credit to pay for construction costs while private fundraising continues.
North Dakota lawmakers in 2023 first established the line of credit through the state-owned bank to allow construction on the $450 million library to continue if donations have been pledged but not yet received by the library foundation.
Under the legislation, the line of credit is required to be repaid, plus interest. Kelvin Hullet, Chief Business Development Officer for the Bank of North Dakota, says there is not a payment due until June 30, 2027.
The Legislature also approved up to $5 million in state funding in the North Dakota Industrial Commission budget to pay for some of the interest.
The presidential library has also received a $4 million Department of Commerce Destination Development Grant and $500,000 from the state Outdoor Heritage Fund.
