WINDOM, Minn. (KFGO) – Five people were killed in a crash involving a passenger van in rural Cottonwood county in Minnesota Friday. The van was traveling southbound on Highway 71 when it collided head on with an SUV traveling northbound.
The driver of the SUV and four of 13 people in the van were killed in the collision. Two of the van’s passengers suffered life threatening injuries and seven others have non-life threatening injuries, including the diver of the van.
The victims were taken to hospitals in Redwood Falls and Windom, Minnesota. One of the passengers with life threatening injuries was flown to Sanford in Sioux Falls.
Those killed in the crash have been identified as
- Martin Hanson, 67, of Springfield, Minnesota
- Kelly Hargus, 49, of Jackson, Minnesota
- Kathleen Johnson, 73, of Jackson, Minnesota
- Richard Johnson, 73, of Jackson, Minnesota
- Lindsey Rossow, 47, of Lakefield, Minnesota
