GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KFGO) – A neighborhood on the north side of Grand Forks was closed off Saturday morning as fire crews battled an apartment fire.
The Grand Forks Fire Department was dispatched to 1323 University Avenue for a report of a structure fire around 7:15 a.m. on Jan. 17.
Firefighters arrived on scene and found smoke and flames coming from a multi-story building. Fire crews were able to contain the fire to the building.
As of noon, fire crews remained on scene working to fully extinguish the fire. University Avenue was closed from Washington Avenue to 15th Avenue.
There were no injuries to people in the building or firefighters.
The temperatures were below zero in Grand Forks at the time of the fire, with wind chills in the double-digits below zero.
The fire department responded with five engines, one ladder truck, one command vehicle, and 19 personnel.
The fire department was assisted by the Grand Forks Police Department, Altru Ambulance, and Xcel Energy.
