APPLE VALLEY, Minn. (KFGO) – The Minnesota State Patrol believes drinking was a factor when an off-duty St. Cloud police officer ran into the back of a Metro Transit bus in the Twin Cities earlier this week.
Ryan Ebert, 44, was driving a pickup. He drove into the bus in Apple Valley.
People close to the family say Ebert is not expected to recover from his injuries. A trooper who responded to the scene noted an odor of alcohol coming from Ebert, who was unconscious. The crash happened about 10 p.m. Monday on State Highway 77.
An online fundraising post says Ebert has two teenage children.
