Dr. Michael Osterholm
MINNEAPOLIS – Infectious disease experts say the CDC is no longer recommending the COVID-19 vaccine for anyone is causing some confusion.
The University of Minnesota’s Dr. Michael Osterholm says this change could make the vaccine harder to get. He says this is not a recommendation that we would like to see in terms of encouraging people to get their COVID, flu, and R-S-V vaccines. In the past, the CDC would have had an active fall campaign reminding citizens of their need to get vaccinated. Osterhom says that it no longer exists.
He also says it is unclear which health care providers can recommend the COVID shot. The CDC was recommending it for kids ages six months and older, pregnant women, senior citizens, and people with underlying health conditions.
