FARGO (KFGO) — A Mapleton man in facing charges after he allegedly tried to burn down a trailer home in Fargo during an argument with his girlfriend.
Fargo Police responded to The Shack on Broadway for an assault around 6:30 a.m. Friday. Officers arrived and found a man restraining another on the ground. The man said he was placing Emmanuel Kwelweeh under citizen’s arrest.
A police report says the man told officers Kwelweeh tried to burn down his trailer. Officers learned Kwelweeh went to the trailer home to speak to his girlfriend, who lived there. The man told officers he smelled something burning, and a neighbor said he saw Kwelweeh light the trailer on fire.
The woman told officers she and Kwelweeh had been arguing over text messages. She showed officers a message where Kwelweeh threatened to burn down the trailer if she broke up with him.
Police found lighter fluid inside Kwelweeh’s car. He’s charged with felony endangering by fire, reckless endangerment, and criminal mischief.
