MOORHEAD (KFGO) – A 17-year-old student who attends the alternative learning center at Moorhead Area Public Schools Career Academy has been arrested on felony gun-related charges.
Police say school resource officers responded after staff saw the student drop a gun during a class transition period. They quickly secured the gun and took the student to a secure office. Police say they don’t believe the student posed an active threat and had not made any threats of violence toward others.
The Clay County Attorney’s Office will handle the prosecution of the student. Police say charges may include having a firearm on school property, possession of a gun by a prohibited person and removal or altering a serial number on a weapon.
