MINNEAPOLIS (KFGO/MNN) – One of the children injured in the Annunciation Catholic School Church shooting is no longer in critical condition. Twelve-year-old Sophia Forchas has been upgraded to serious condition.
Last week Forchas’ doctor shared that she sustained a gunshot wound to the left side of her head. The bullet remains lodged in her brain. Surgeons were forced to remove the left half of her skull to allow space for swelling.
Her care team noted that while progress is expected in the coming weeks, the injury could result in lasting neurological effects.
