Former Salon Professional Academy controller charged with felony theft

FARGO (KFGO/KVRR) — The former controller for Salon Professional Academy in Fargo is charged with felony theft, accused of stealing around $50,000.

Alexis Engelking, 34, was arraigned last Friday.

Court records say Engelking altered and inflated her own paychecks, and at times issued herself two paychecks instead of one. 

Co-owner Jodi Brown told detectives that she approved a $12,000 private loan to close on a new house, but Engelking issued herself two $12,000 payments. It was later learned she used one of the payments to pay back money she allegedly stole while working at Fargo Linoleum.

Brown says Engelking has returned nearly $40,000.
