COON RAPIDS, Minn. – The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating a police shooting in Coon Rapids that left a man armed with a knife dead.
Officers were called to a domestic incident Wednesday afternoon after a woman reported she had been cut with a knife. Authorities contacted the suspect and heard a woman screaming who left the home with another man.
Investigators say the suspect retreated further into the house and refused repeated commands to drop his weapon.
Two officers discharged less than lethal rounds before a third officer fired a gun, and a fourth officer used a Taser when he attempted to get up.
The suspect was treated at the scene and later died in the hospital. Officer body cameras recorded the incident.
