Explosion at Fargo food processing plant blamed on dust in storage bin

FARGO (KFGO) – The Fargo Fire Department now says there was a dust explosion and not a natural gas explosion at a north Fargo food processing plant late last month.

It happened at a Red River Commodities building in the 300 block of 40th Street North. The investigation found that the April 23 dust explosion was in a storage bin. One person was treated for non life-threatening injuries at a Fargo hospital.

The plant was temporarily evacuated.
