Jamie Barnes (Stutsman Co. jail)
JAMESTOWN, N.D. (KFGO) – A Bismarck man is facing multiple charges after a pursuit and crash in Jamestown Saturday morning.
The Highway Patrol says troopers responded to a report of a reckless driver on eastbound I-94 in Kidder County. A trooper found the car in Stutsman County and tried to make a traffic stop, but the driver fled at speeds over 100 miles per hour. Police say the driver took a Jamestown exit and sped through town, nearly hitting one vehicle before crashing into a pickup in an intersection.
The suspect, 18-year-old Jamie Barnes ran after the crash, but was quickly caught and taken into custody.
Jamestown Police say there were also three Bismarck juveniles in the car. Barnes and one of the juveniles were taken to Jamestown Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the pickup suffered minor injuries.
Police say Barnes is facing fleeing, DUI-drugs, and reckless endangerment charges connected to the pursuit and crash.
Investigators say Barnes was also involved in a pursuit in Bismarck Friday night and the vehicle was stolen. He could face additional charges there.
