THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minn. (KFGO) – Arctic Cat has announced it’s Thief River Falls plant workers will not be laid off and production will be increased.
In December, the former owner of the company, Textron, said the plant would close and workers would be laid-off. That was expected to happen sometime this May. The company sold in April, and the new owner plans to increase production at both the Thief River Falls plant and the St. Cloud plant.
Arctic Cat manufactures snowmobiles, ATVs, and UTVs. It was founded in 1967.
Thief River Falls Mayor Mike Lorenson says he’s “excited about today’s news from Arctic Cat. Their swift action and commitment to the community bring fresh energy and optimism to Thief River Falls. This is a great step forward for our city, and I look forward to seeing this hometown legacy thrive once again.”
