FARGO, N.D. (KFGO/KVRR) – The 32nd Avenue S. reconstruction project in Fargo is just about ready to move on to its next phase.
City officials say that the project is progressing well thanks to a mild winter that allowed for an earlier start date. As such, phase 1 of the four-part total reconstruction is nearly complete.
Phase 2 begins Monday, May 5. That’s when the segment between 17th and 18th Street S. will be closed.
City officials say they also make sure that infrastructure such as water mains are up to date when they undertake these kinds of projects.
“Anytime we’re replacing the street, it gives us the opportunity to look at the underground,” explained Jeremy Gorden, engineer for the Transportation Division. “If the pipe material isn’t right, we replace it, so that when we put it all back together and cover it up it’s good for decades and decades.”
The project is expected to be completed sometime in September.
